About

Gregg is an experienced tutor and special educator with over a decade of experience working with elementary-aged students. He currently teaches fourth grade at a school for students with language-based learning disabilities. Previously, he served as the school’s Committee on Special Education (CSE) Coordinator, where he acted as a liaison between the school and the Department of Education, advocating for students and families during IEP meetings and through testimony in Impartial Hearings. In addition to his classroom work, Gregg enjoys supporting students one-on-one through tutoring. He specializes in play-based and multi-sensory approaches to reading, writing, math, and executive functioning, tailoring his instruction to meet the unique needs of each learner.

Gregg holds a Master’s of Education in Childhood Special Education from Pace University and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Vermont’s College of Education and Social Services. He is currently pursuing a Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Gregg holds a New York State teaching certification and is trained in the Orton-Gillingham Preventing Academic Failure program, the Wilson Reading System, explicit and structured writing instruction, and a range of math programs focused on building deep conceptual understanding. He also draws on insights from occupational therapy to support students in areas such as executive functioning, attention, self-regulation, and graphomotor skills.

  • Parents set up a free consultation phone call with Gregg to share what led them to seek tutoring services, share about their child’s learning and interests and discuss goals that they would like for tutoring to address.

Step 2: Connect the Team

  • Gregg will ask that you connect him with your child’s teachers and/or learning supports as well as any outside service providers so that he can collaborate with your child’s team during the tutoring process. All collaboration between Gregg and your child’s team of teachers and service providers are free. If your child has relevant school reports, an IEP, a 504 Plan or a neuropsychological evaluation Gregg will ask for a copy of those documents to review prior to the start of tutoring sessions.
  • Upon sessions beginning Gregg will use any assessment data shared in order to tailor explicit and individualized instruction to your child. Gregg will continuously conduct his own formal and informal assessments to inform his instruction.
  • As sessions continue, Gregg will continue to help your child reach their full academic potential through highly individualized and structured tutoring sessions on a weekly basis. Sessions are typically 45 minutes or an hour, depending on the student’s needs.  Instruction will be explicitly broken down for each student and reinforced through multisensory and game-based learning experiences.
  • Gregg will offer free periodic check-ins with families via a written report or phone conversation. He will also communicate with members of your child’s educational team in order to hear about the progress and goals that they have outside of tutoring and to share supports that have been helpful during sessions with Gregg.
